Wireless USB internet adapters SUCK
Never in my life has my internet connection made me so pissed off as the past month that I’ve been using this thing. Besides randomly disconnecting me, ocassional crappy reception(that’s more or less solved, although it’s still kinda there), and saying my computer can’t read/recognize the adapter at times, there’s no way in hell I can torrent anything for more then like, 5 minutes before my computer either freezes or blue screens on me.
Now, I know it’s not a problem with the download rate being too great, because I can download through IRC (those of you fansubbers who allow IRC downloads, you are godsends), and I’ve gotten 800-900kbps and had no problems. But I get 20kbps on a torrent and suddenly it blue screens on me. Now, I don’t fully know how torrents work, so I might be a little misinformed here, but to my knowledge, torrents suck up every bit of resources your internet connection has in order to attempt to get a better download rate. So I guess that regardless of my download speed, it’s trying to pull in a lot more information then that, and it overflows my USB port (on the bluescreen, I get the error ‘DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL’ or something to that degree). If anyone reading this has any suggestions, let me know, I’m about to just buy a long-ass piece of ethernet cable and run it across the house to where the router is.
tl;dr: More fansubs on IRC please.
